Went to my first running expo today with my coworker since the Big Sur marathon is this weekend. They had a ton of running gear available for sale. T-shirts with all these great running slogans. It’s gotten me thinking on what I want my t-shirt to say when I run my first Half Marathon. I think this is a good contender.
The good news? I’m finally cooking my own lunch and dinners again since I got back from vacation. The bad news? I have yet to do any of the dishes. How the hell a single guy uses up this many dishes is beyond me.
3 weeks ago I entered a lottery to be one of the participants in the Nike Women’s Marathon (and Half Marathon). Yes, it’s the Women’s Marathon but they do allow dudes, I checked. Instead of a a medal each finisher receives a Tiffany’s necklace from a hot San Franciscan fire-fighter. The drawing was being held today and my friend and her friends received their email confirmation by the time I’d woken up. I figured I was out of the running.
Around 2pm I receive this email letting me know I was chosen. In 5 1/2 months I will be running my first official Half Marathon, a month earlier than I was expecting. Shit just got real.
The shit you do to get a hot guy to give you that damn little blue box.
First jog in 3 weeks and I finally got to try out my new Garmin running watch. Granted it was more of a walk than a run but damn did those hills make my calves and ass hurt after doing nothing for 3 weeks. Still felt great to finally get outside and moving.
Still recovering from the post-vacation blues today (I swear the womp womps are finally subsiding). Put in some OT hours at work and went grocery shopping afterwards. There’s this new-ish Chinese restaurant near Trader Joe’s that always has the greatest smell coming from it. I decided to finally try it out to see if a good Chinese meal would help cheer me up. After dinner this was my fortune –

Lazy Easter Sunday with a long visit to my mom’s, a 3-hour nap and lots of Adele. Adele’s new album, 21 has been on regular rotation on my iPod for a couple of weeks now. Currently “I Found a Boy” is my song of the week.
I spent the majority of day in bed. No shame at all. I was recovering from my vacation and just needed to sleep. I got up in the morning, ate, took a nap. Cleaned a little and then took another nap. Finally got out of bed around 6:30pm.
Like I said, no shame.
3rd day back from vacation and 3rd day I spent most of it reminiscing about said vacation. Luckily I had a little something waiting for me at home to cheer me up.
This is my first official race bib EVER! Next month I will be “running” in the 100th Annual Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco.
Another rough day at work but this time I decided to cheer myself up with my new addiction. California rolls and spicy edamame.
No, this isn’t a repeat picture from Day 6. My first day back at work after a week of vacation was a rough one. Normally my post-vacation NYC high lasts me about a week. Today, work managed to kill my high in less than 6 hours. 3 1/2 hours into my day I decided to go to Chili’s for a lunch time cocktail. The cocktail managed to help chill me out … for about half an hour anyway.
